Cowork and workspaces

Cowork turns a natural-language goal into a trackable work process. AI can read the workspace, edit files, run checks, and return results.

Describe a clear task

Include the following when possible:

  • the result you want;
  • files, folders, or systems that are in scope;
  • behavior that must remain unchanged;
  • acceptance checks and actions that are not allowed.

For example: “Check the documentation in the current workspace, fix broken links, and run the docs build. Do not publish.”

Follow progress

Task cards show waiting, running, completed, or failed states. Open a card for details. The final response summarizes completed work, verification results, and anything that still needs human review.

Tool permissions

When a permission request appears, check:

  1. what operation the tool will perform;
  2. whether its target is inside the expected workspace;
  3. whether it includes deletion, publishing, payment, or external communication.

If you are unsure, deny the request and ask the AI to explain the need or narrow the scope.

Stop a task

Stop the task when it moves away from the goal or must pause immediately. Stopping does not automatically undo file changes already completed, so review current changes before continuing.
